Driver Falls From Bridge While Trying to Find Toilet
A Spanish lorry driver suffered serious injuries after falling from a motorway bridge near Hospital Road in Hollingbourne this morning.
The man, who had been stuck in Operation Brock queues on the M20, left his cab to use the toilet by the roadside but tragically fell from the bridge around 9am on Thursday, 7th April 2022.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Kent Police officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics were quickly on the scene. Specialist HART teams provided vital support.
Kent Roads Police used onboard first aid life packs to stabilise the injured driver before paramedics could reach him.
Traffic was halted while officers scrambled down motorway verges to reach and aid the man.
Paramedics Delayed by Motorway Closure
Ambulance crews faced delays due to the closure of the M20 and Brock Zero, having to find alternate routes to the crash site.
Once stabilised, the driver was airlifted to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford with serious injuries.
Police Respond
Kent Police confirmed they are investigating the incident and have been approached for further comment.
