Blackout Chaos Halts Heathrow Flights and Sparks Baggage Mayhem
Power Cut Strikes Heathrow at Dawn
London’s Heathrow Airport was plunged into chaos early Thursday morning after a power outage hit the hub just after 3 a.m. The blackout lasted at least three hours, sparking major disruption to flights and causing baggage turmoil.
Flights Grounded as Fuel Systems Fail
The outage affected critical fuel pumping systems, forcing a complete halt on departures. Passengers waiting to take off faced frantic delays and uncertainty.
Just about to take off and the captain just announced a power outage affecting apparently the fuelling system at London Heathrow which is making all flights to be stopped until further notice,” tweeted traveller Fabrizio.
He later added, “Our plane is still grounded, but the captain appears upbeat… Fuel recalculations are underway, and there is a possibility of waiting even longer once in London.”
Baggage Chaos Adds to Passenger Frustration
One passenger described the scenes as “baggage chaos” as luggage handling systems were also impacted by the blackout, leaving travellers stranded and confused.
Heathrow Airport has been contacted for comment on the power failure and its effect on airport operations.
