Petrol attack at Locks Heath Centre: Man’s car set ablaze in broad daylight

Were you near the Locks Heath Centre at 3.45pm this afternoon? Police want to hear from you after a shocking arson attack in the car park.

Car set on fire in daylight attack

On Sunday, June 12, an 18-year-old man was sitting in his car at the Locks Heath Centre car park when another vehicle pulled up alongside. A man got out, doused the victim’s car in petrol, and set it alight before fleeing the scene.

Miraculously, the victim escaped unharmed.

Suspect held and questioned

A 21-year-old Locks Heath man has been arrested and is currently being questioned by police in connection with the incident.

Police urge witnesses to come forward

Detective Sergeant Damian Glendenning said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the Locks Heath Centre at the time, who may have seen or heard something connected to this incident, to come forward and speak to us. We know there were a lot of people in the area at the time, so it is very likely a number of people would have witnessed what happened.”

Police confirm they are treating this as an isolated incident.
