Suffolk Police are appealing for witnesses following an alarming incident where a man approached a child in a play area and made concerning requests. The incident occurred at Leavenheath village hall at approximately 6.50pm on Thursday, 29 June, leaving the community on high alert.
According to reports, the child was enjoying playtime with a friend when an elderly man approached them. The man first inquired about the child’s mother and then proceeded to ask for directions to the post office, inviting the child to visit his address afterward. Sensing danger, both children swiftly retreated and promptly reported the incident to a responsible adult accompanying them.
Authorities are actively seeking more information to aid in their investigation. The man involved is described as elderly with gray hair, and he was seen riding a black mobility scooter at the time of the incident. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the encounter or has any pertinent information to come forward and assist with the inquiry.
