Unidentified Man’s Remains Found in Glenrothes Industrial Estate
Human remains were discovered on September 27 in Whitehill Road, within the Whitehill industrial estate in Glenrothes. Specialists have determined the body belongs to a man aged at least 35, slim build, standing about 5ft 8in tall.
Distinctive Surgical Plate Could Crack Case
The deceased had lost several teeth over his lifetime and bore a surgical plate on his left ankle, likely fitted between late 1998 and early 1999. Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Houliston said: “The death of this man remains unexplained, and our inquiries are ongoing to identify him and understand how he ended up on the estate.”
He added: “This man had a family—he was someone’s son, maybe a father, uncle, or brother. It’s vital we identify him to bring closure.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Information
Officers believe the man died at least two years ago. They’re combing through UK missing person records and urging anyone with information to come forward.
- Anyone who visited or used the industrial estate at any time.
- Those involved in ‘Urban Exploring’ who may have been on site.
- Members of the travelling community who have visited the estate.
- Business owners connected to the area.
- Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity, including fly-tipping or youths gathering.
DCI Houliston urged: “If you have photographs or videos from the site—even from years ago—they could hold vital clues. Please get in touch.”
