Couple Killed in Horror M6 Smash
Tragedy struck on August 12th, 2021, as a Mazda 3 came off the road and crashed on the northbound M6 between junctions 32 and 33. Rescue crews were called around 4pm but both occupants – a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s, both from Derby – were pronounced dead at the scene.
M6 Northbound Shut for Hours
Emergency services closed the northbound carriageway for hours while collision experts combed the scene in nearby woodland where the car came to rest. Police confirmed no other vehicles appear to have been involved.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Sgt Craig Booth of Lancashire Police said: “These are very sad and tragic circumstances. My thoughts are with the couple’s loved ones.”
He urged anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses can contact police on 101 quoting log number 1125 of August 12th.
