Man Throws Aerosol Can at Bus Driver After Fare Row in Sutton

Drama unfolded on Thursday, 13 August at around 2.20pm when a man and his friends boarded a Route 151 bus at Crown Road, near Sutton High Street, heading towards Shotfield—without paying. When the driver challenged them, the man stormed off the bus, then shockingly ignited an aerosol can and hurled it straight through the driver’s window.

Miraculously, the driver escaped injury. The man then fled the scene on foot. Police have now released CCTV images of the suspect and are urgently seeking public help.

Police Launch Hunt for Dangerous Bus Attacker

PC Natalie Baynes from the Roads and Transport Policing Command said:

“This was a shocking and quite frankly dangerous incident and I am very pleased the driver did not come to harm. Had the aerosol can exploded, I dread to think how serious the injuries could have been.”

She added:

“I am looking to speak with anyone who can help us identify the man in this CCTV image. Likewise, if you were on board the bus and witnessed what happened, please do get in touch.”
