M27 Shutdown After Crash and Fuel Spill
Chaos on the M27 this morning as police shut the road between Junction 11 Fareham and Junction 12 Portsmouth following a nasty collision. An HGV smashed into a private car, causing a major fuel spill and forcing the closure of the eastbound carriageway.
Serious Crash Blocks M27 Eastbound
The crash has completely closed the M27 eastbound from J11 (Fareham North) to J12 (Portsmouth North/M275). Emergency crews and traffic officers are on scene dealing with the aftermath.
Huge Delays and Diversions in Place
Drivers heading eastbound are urged to follow the ‘Hollow Circle’ diversion. Exit at J11, take the third exit onto the A27, then continue through Portchester and Portsbridge Interchange before rejoining the M27 at J12. Expect lengthy delays and consider alternative routes.
Closure to Last Until at Least Lunchtime
Recovery teams face a tricky job clearing the damaged vehicles and spilled fuel. Police warn the closure could remain until lunchtime. After that, inspections of the road surface will delay reopening further. Stay tuned for updates.
