Four Dead in Horror A40 Crash Near Oxford

Tragedy struck on Monday night when a silver Subaru Outback collided with a white heavy goods vehicle on the A40 west of Oxford. The fatal smash happened just before 10pm on the railway overbridge.

Family Wiped Out in Devastating Collision

Senior Investigating Officer Sergeant Dominic Mahon confirmed the victims were a family from Chinnor: a 29-year-old woman and three children aged eight, six, and four. All four died at the scene.

Two Others Injured, Conditions Improving

Two more people — a 30-year-old man and an 18-month-old toddler — were seriously injured but are now showing signs of recovery, police say.

Investigation Underway, No Arrests Yet

Sergeant Mahon urged the public to avoid speculation, warning it only causes distress to grieving families. The HGV driver has fully cooperated with police and provided a witness statement.

“Please do not speculate as to the cause of this tragic collision. To do so would be extremely distressing for the families and will not assist our investigation,” Mahon said.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the crash or has dash-cam footage to come forward. Reports can be made via 101 or online quoting reference number 43200321914.

Formal victim identification has yet to be confirmed. Authorities ask for privacy during this heartbreaking time.
