Security Alert Sparks Chaos at Stansted Airport
Police scrambled to deal with a tense “security alert” on a plane at Stansted Airport on Wednesday night (October 19).
Runway Shut and Reopened
Essex Police confirmed officers were at the scene. The runway was briefly closed but has since reopened. Meanwhile, the aircraft was moved to a secure part of the airport as investigations continue.
“We are now handling a security alert aboard a plane at Stansted Airport,” police said at 9:15pm. “While we do our investigations, the plane has been transferred to a secure area of the airport. The airport is now completely open, although the runway was briefly closed.”
Fresh Fears After Recent Flight Diversion
The incident echoes a similar scare just one week earlier. A Jet2 flight from Dalaman, Turkey, bound for Manchester, was diverted to Stansted amid concerns of a “possible danger on board.” Officers found no threat after escorting the plane to a secure location.
Stansted passengers were left rattled by the latest disruption as police work to uncover the full details.
