Human Remains Found on Isle of Wight Beach

Hampshire police have confirmed that human remains were discovered buried under the sand on a beach near Appley on the Isle of Wight. A member of the public alerted officers just before 10:30am on Thursday, July 5, 2018, after spotting the grim find at Spring View.

Remains Buried for Some Time

Officers say the remains have been under the sand for a considerable time. They will be carefully recovered soon for forensic analysis as police continue their investigations.

Location Correction Issued

Hampshire Constabulary admitted an earlier error about the find’s location. The remains were actually found at Springvale near Ryde – not at Wootton Bridge as originally reported.
