High-speed chase ends in dramatic hide-and-seek on Isle of Wight
A biker who dared to outrun cops in Ryde flopped spectacularly after a tense chase with armed roads policing and the national air support unit.
Wild Ride Through Ryde
The drama kicked off just after 5pm on Thursday when the suspect refused to stop on the Oakfield estate. Local officers and a helicopter from NPAS Bournemouth gave chase, but the rider took a detour, ditching his high-powered bike in a desperate bid to shake off police.
Neighbours Turn Detectives
Residents quickly jumped on social media, tracking the police helicopter as it hovered overhead. Their sharp eyes helped pinpoint where the biker had hidden the machine — “under a tree canopy,” confirmed NPAS Bournemouth with a cheeky thanks.
Police Win the Hide and Seek
Police later joked on Twitter that the rider “appears confused as it isn’t where he left it” – the bike was safely recovered under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.
“Don’t panic! We are looking after it for you,” the police reassured.
Looks like the fugitive’s attempt at freedom ended with his wheels confiscated – and no place to hide.
