An investigation has been launched following the death of a person at a property in Southampton, where specialist officers remain at the scene.   A large police cordon remains in place around the block of flats on Weston Lane, Weston, following a major emergency service response during the early hours of Sunday.   Forensic officers have spent several hours carrying out detailed examinations inside and outside the property, with specialist teams seen taking photographs and removing items in evidence bags. A source has told UKNIP that a person has died and that a private ambulance attended the scene to remove the deceased. Police have not yet publicly confirmed the identity of the person or the circumstances surrounding the death. Witnesses earlier reported seeing a significant emergency service presence, including numerous police vehicles and ambulances. One witness also reported seeing a person in handcuffs.      

It is not currently known whether any reported detention is connected to the death. The police cordon remains in place while detectives and forensic specialists continue their enquiries.   Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for an official statement. Further updates are expected as the investigation develops.
