Purple Bricks Donate £3,000 to Portsmouth Hospital Children’s Ward

Purplebricks, an online estate agent company has donated an incredible £3,000.00 towards the purchase of a blood gas analyser for the Children’s Assessment Unit at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham. Currently, the Unit does not have its own blood gas analysing machine so the Department has to rely on using machines located in other areas of the hospital. Kenny Bruce, one of the founders of Purple Bricks said, “The work the staff do and time they give to raise funds for this piece of equipment is remarkable, and we are extremely pleased to donate towards this cause.” Tracey Thomas, Sister on the Children’s Assessment Unit said, “The staff from the Paediatrics Department at QA would like to give their sincere thanks to Purplebricks for their very charitable donation towards the blood gas analyser fund. For a national company still in its infancy to provide such a generous donation to support a local fundraising initiative is both humbling and inspiring.” Lucy Gudgeon, has recently benefited from using the machine. Lucy’s Mum Kay said, “Lucy was suffering from hyponatraemia which was detected during blood analysis. The condition was monitored with blood tests every four hours and successfully treated. I could see how important quick analysis of blood was in Lucy’s case and the availability of a blood gas analyser on the Unit greatly contributed and allowed the care she was given to be monitored. The staff did a fantastic job knowing that Lucy was due to be a bridesmaid at her brother’s wedding and had her fit and well, to be discharged in time to return home and prepare for the big day.” If you would like to support a cause within the hospital close to your heart, Portsmouth Hospitals Charity would love to hear from you.
