Jo Whiley Takes Over Preston for Radio 2 in the Park Pre-Party!

Live from The Ferret: Jo Whiley’s Special Broadcast

Get ready, Preston! Jo Whiley will host a live Radio 2 and BBC Sounds show straight from The Ferret, the city’s iconic music venue, on Thursday, September 5th. The two-hour evening show, from 7-9pm, will feature an intimate crowd of Radio 2 fans and spotlight three local bands picked from BBC Introducing’s lineup.

BBC Radio Lancashire’s William Wolstenholme will co-host the event, which will also be broadcast on BBC Radio Lancashire, making it the perfect shout-out to Preston’s buzzing music scene.

“I’m super excited to get the party started in Moor Park ahead of the whole weekend of incredible live performances at Radio 2 in the Park,” Jo Whiley said. “The city has a vibrant music scene with outstanding local talent.”

Radio 2 in the Park: Big Names Take Over Moor Park

The main event kicks off September 6-8 at Moor Park, Preston, featuring chart legends and festival favourites:

  • Sting on Saturday
  • The Pet Shop Boys on Sunday
  • Sugababes, Snow Patrol, Manic Street Preachers and more

The festival promises a star-studded weekend full of both iconic and emerging acts.

Festival Pre-Party & Live Broadcasts All Weekend

The hype kicks off early with a special Pre-Party on Friday, September 6. Radio 2 presenters will rock a DJ stage for 5,000 lucky fans before the main festival days.

Throughout the weekend, presenters will stream live from Preston, with exclusive sets and shows available on BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer — perfect for those who can’t make it in person.
