House Collapses After Fiery Blast in South London
A terrifying explosion has left a terraced house in Thornton Heath, south London, in ruins. Around 40 firefighters scrambled to the scene after a blaze ripped through the property, causing it to collapse. Rescue teams have pulled a young child from the wreckage and rushed them to a London hospital. However, four people remain unaccounted for as the desperate search continues.
Massive Emergency Response in Thornton Heath
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) deployed six fire engines and firefighters from Norbury, Mitcham, West Norwood, Woodside, and nearby stations. The brigade responded to 13 emergency calls, with the first alert coming in at 7:08 a.m.
“A terraced house has collapsed following an explosion,” confirmed the LFB. “Our crews are working tirelessly to search the rubble and secure the scene.”
Cause of Blast Still Unknown
Authorities have not yet determined what sparked the devastating fire and explosion on Galpin’s Road. The London Ambulance Service urged the public to reserve 999 calls for genuine medical emergencies.
“We have several resources on site assisting with this incident,” the service said. “Please use 999 only for true emergencies and 111 online for other urgent medical needs.”
