Motorcyclist Suffers Life-Changing Injuries in Horror Collision on A23
Emergency services raced to the A23 northbound near Warninglid on Saturday evening after a serious crash left a rider fighting for his life.
61-Year-Old Man Crashes Into Central Barrier
Just before 6pm on 24 August, a 61-year-old man from colchester/" title="Colchester" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Colchester, Essex, lost control of his black Yamaha cruiser-style motorcycle and smashed into the central barrier near the B2115 Cuckfield Lane junction.
He suffered severe, life-changing injuries in the horror collision.
Road Closed for Air Ambulance Response
The A23 was shut in both directions as Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance crews attended the scene. However, the rider was eventually rushed to Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, by road ambulance.
The busy route remained closed until 8.45pm while police investigated the smash.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dash-Cam Footage
Sergeant Mark Farrow of Sussex Police said: “We recognise the significant impact this would have had on motorists within the area and thank the public for their understanding and patience while we were dealing with this incident.”
Police are urging anyone who saw the crash, noticed the bike before the incident, or captured useful dash-cam footage to come forward.
