Dramatic Night at Brighton Beach as Emergency Services Rush to Rescue
Person in Water Sparks Midnight Drama
Emergency crews scrambled to Brighton seafront late on Wednesday, 27 August, after reports of someone in the water near Brighton Pier. Brighton RNLI got the alert at 11:03pm and swiftly dispatched lifeboats and local Coastguard teams. By 11:10pm, the person was safely out of the water and handed over to ambulance staff.
Nightmare Not Over: Search Resumes in Early Hours
Just hours later, in the early hours of Thursday, 28 August, the alarm sounded again for the same individual. This time, the Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Solent joined the effort.
At 2:22am, Brighton RNLI launched once more to comb the shoreline between Brighton Marina and Palace Pier. Shoreham and Newhaven Coastguard Rescue Teams backed up the search along with the helicopter. The extensive search wrapped up at 4:39am with no further incident.
HM Coastguard Confirms Full Police Support
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: “HM Coastguard assisted police with the response to an incident in the Brighton Beach area this morning, 28 August. Alerted at around 2.15am, Shoreham and Newhaven Coastguard Rescue Teams, a lifeboat from Brighton RNLI and a coastguard search and rescue helicopter were sent to assist.”
