RNLI Lifeboat Scrambles Twice in Two Days to Rescue Four Missing Teens
The RNLI Walmer Lifeboat crew were called out again on Tuesday, 6 August 2024, to rescue four youths who vanished while afloat on the River Stour.
Lightning-Fast Launch
At 2:32pm, the lifeboat pagers buzzed. Within twelve minutes, the D Class lifeboat Duggie Rodbard II was slicing through the water. The crew headed upriver, passing Richborough Power Station, determined to find the missing young people.
Search and Rescue Operation Underway
The dedicated RNLI volunteers combed the river meticulously. Their readiness to strike at a moment’s notice is a testament to their training and commitment.
Safe and Sound Ashore
Good news arrived swiftly: all four youngsters were found safe and sound on shore. The lifeboat crew was stood down, ending another successful mission and easing fears for those involved.
Back to Base
The Duggie Rodbard II returned to Walmer station, with the lifeboat secured by 5:10pm, ready for duty again as needed.

This marks the second straight day of call-outs for the RNLI Walmer heroes, highlighting their tireless dedication to community safety on the water. Whatever the emergency, they remain vigilant and ready to act.
