A fierce house fire ripped through a property on Knights Road, Hoo, Rochester, late Saturday night, 18 November 2023. The Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) swung into action fast, rushing three fire engines to the scene.
Firefighters Battle Blaze in Roof Space
Arriving at about 10.19pm, the crew wasted no time. Wearing full protective gear and breathing apparatus, they targeted the raging fire in the roof of the home. Using a high-pressure hose reel jet, they doused the flames and stopped the inferno from spreading further.
Volunteers Support Residents as No Injuries Reported
The KFRS Volunteer Response Team provided vital support to the shaken residents. Thankfully, everyone was already outside when the fire crews arrived, and no injuries were reported.
Electrical Fault to Blame – Fire Safety Urged
Investigations suggest an electrical fault with a bathroom light sparked the blaze. It’s a stark reminder for all homeowners to regularly check electrical fittings and ensure working smoke alarms are in place.
“The swift, professional actions of the firefighters prevented serious harm and saved property,” said a KFRS spokesperson.
Community and Fire Service Praised for Rapid Response
