The body of Marelle Sturrock was found Tuesday morning at a property on Jura Street. Police launched a major search for a man at Mugdock Country Park, East Dunbartonshire, nine miles away.
Police Link Death and Manhunt
Police Scotland confirmed both investigations are connected but reassured the public there is “not believed to be any risk to the wider public.”
Beloved Teacher Remembered
Marelle had taught at the local primary school for over six years. Headteacher Fiona Donnelly praised her, saying: “Marelle has been a much-loved member of our school community since her probationary year more than six years ago. She taught many year groups and was a lovely, kind, diligent and considerate person who made time for everyone. We will all miss her so much.”
From Scottish Highlands to the Classroom
Originally from the Scottish Highlands, Marelle moved at 17 to pursue performing arts. She later switched careers and became a primary school teacher after earning a postgraduate diploma.
Investigation Ongoing
Detective Chief Inspector Kelly revealed officers are carrying out extensive searches at Mugdock Country Park linked to a Missing Person" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">missing person inquiry. She said: “This is being treated as linked to the death at Jura Street, and enquiries remain ongoing.”
DCI Kelly added: “Our thoughts are with Marelle’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. We are supporting them as we continue to investigate. Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland.”
