Radio star Sara Cox is set to become the new host of BBC Radio 2’s flagship Breakfast Show. The switch sees her move from the station’s popular Teatime slot to the coveted morning gig.

From Teatime to Breakfast Glory

Cox currently entertains listeners from 4pm to 7pm on weekdays. Starting this summer, she’ll be waking up millions with the Breakfast Show from 6.30am to 9.30am every weekday morning. It’s one of the UK’s most listened-to radio slots, making her new role a massive step up.

Sara’s Reaction: “Ecstatic, Honoured and Chuffed!”

“There are not enough adjectives to really sum up how I’m feeling about being trusted with such an iconic show but let’s start with ecstatic, honoured and incredibly chuffed,” Cox said.

“It’s been a dream to host the Breakfast Show since I joined Radio 2 and it feels like a bit of a full circle for me. I’ve had the most glorious seven years of my career on Teatime, so thank you to my brilliant Teatime listeners who hopefully will join me at Breakfast for excellent music and all my usual nonsense plus some superstar guests. I honestly can’t wait to wake the nation up with the biggest, most fun breakfast show ever.”

What’s Next for Teatime?

The BBC is tight-lipped on who will replace Cox in the Teatime slot. More details are expected soon as the station finalises its new lineup.
