Sarah Ferguson Dumps Duchess Title After Andrew Ditches Duke Tag Amid Epstein Scandal

Royal Pair Bury Titles in Fallout from Epstein Debacle

Sarah Ferguson has scrubbed all mentions of the Duchess of York from her social media after she and Prince Andrew agreed to ditch their royal titles in public. The dramatic move comes as the pair try to distance themselves from the mounting Jeffrey Epstein saga.

On 17 October, the former royals confirmed they would no longer use the York titles. Sarah swapped her “SarahTheDuchess” handle on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok for “sarahMFergie15,” tapping into her maiden name’s famous nickname and shedding royal branding.

Prince Andrew said, “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.” He added, “With His Majesty’s agreement, I must now go a step further… I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.” Andrew still firmly denies all allegations.

‘Duke of York’ Erased From Official Royal Website

The royal website has cleansed all references to “Duke of York.” Instead, Andrew is now simply listed as “Prince Andrew.”

The site reminds visitors: “On 13 January 2022, Buckingham Palace announced Prince Andrew’s military affiliations and Royal patronages would be returned to Her late Majesty. The Prince would not return to public duties.”

However, under UK law, Andrew technically remains Duke of York, as stripping the title outright requires an Act of Parliament.

Pressure Mounts to Strip Andrew For Good

Calls to permanently strip Andrew of his dukedom are growing louder. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is under fire to act quickly.

  • Stephen Flynn, SNP Westminster leader, told The Telegraph: “There can be no justification from this Labour Government as to why that is not immediately happening.”
  • A Labour MP declared: “I do think he ought to be stripped of all titles.”

Still, Environment Secretary Ed Miliband said the government will be “guided by the Royal Family,” noting they want to avoid Parliament getting bogged down in the issue.

Sarah’s Social Shake-Up Marks A New Era

Sarah’s fresh “sarahMFergie15” handle signals a clear break from royal life, embracing her maiden Ferguson identity. After decades wearing the Duchess of York crown — even post-divorce in 1996 — she now drops royal trappings in public.

Despite their split, Sarah and Andrew remain close and still share the Royal Lodge home in Windsor.

Epstein Fallout Continues to Haunt Royal Family

Andrew’s title surrender highlights lasting damage from the Epstein scandal. His disastrous 2019 BBC interview tarnished his image, forcing a retreat from royal duties and the stripping of military roles in 2022.

Though he technically retains the dukedom, publicly abandoning the title looks like a bid to dodge political headaches and ease royal tensions.

The Future at Royal Lodge Looks Uncertain

Andrew’s 75-year lease on Royal Lodge complicates any eviction, despite whispers that King Charles wants him gone. The couple’s place at Windsor now hangs in the balance as pressure mounts to end the Duke of York saga once and for all.
