Massive Search Underway After Girl Disappears in Thames at Gravesend

A frantic search continues this morning along the River Thames in Gravesend after a young girl went missing in the water on Friday afternoon.

Distress Call Sparks Full-Scale Rescue

Kent Police were alerted at 1:46pm on Friday, 30 May, following a welfare alert from the Port of London Authority about two children who had entered the river near Royal Pier Road.

Emergency teams scrambled to the scene, including H.M. Coastguard, the RNLI, and the South East Coast Ambulance Service. A boy was pulled from the water and rushed to hospital. Thankfully, his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Search Focuses on Missing Girl

The desperate hunt now centers on finding the missing girl. Despite ongoing efforts, she remains unfound.

Kent Police’s Marine Unit, alongside H.M. Coastguard, continues to scour the river and riverbanks for any sign of her. A spokesperson said:

“We are working alongside partner agencies in an extensive search operation to locate the missing child. Our thoughts are with her family at this deeply distressing time.”

Public Urged to Give Space to Rescuers

Emergency crews remain at Royal Pier Road, carrying out their search with urgency. The public is urged to stay clear of the area to avoid disrupting operations.
