Gloucestershire Police Chief Suspended Over Fresh Misconduct Claims
Gloucestershire Police Chief Constable Rod Hansen has been hit with a second gross misconduct notice, triggering his full suspension from the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC). Hansen was already redeployed there while under investigation.
Double Trouble: Two Investigations Underway
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is probing two separate allegations against Hansen. The first concerns his handling of a reported computer misuse incident and a possible data breach involving a staff member. The second, revealed this week, questions his role in a recruitment process and whether he followed the force’s strict policies.
PCC Pulls the Plug: Full Suspension Confirmed
Chris Nelson, Gloucestershire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, confirmed Hansen’s full suspension. He said:
“Having considered the 123 and focused.
The IOPC stressed that receiving misconduct notices does not imply guilt or guarantee any further disciplinary action.
IOPC Spills the Details
“We have served a second gross misconduct notice on Chief Constable Rod Hansen relating to his involvement in a recruitment process, his account of that involvement, and whether his actions complied with force procedures,” said an IOPC spokesperson.
“Our original investigation into the handling of an allegation of computer misuse is well advanced.”
