Shoreham RNLI’s First December Dip Nets £4,000 for Lifesaving
The Shoreham RNLI has made waves with its maiden December Dip, smashing £4,000 in donations. The chilly plunge at Kingston Beach saw 110 fearless ‘dippers’ dive into freezing waters despite the cold, wind, and rain.
Brave Souls Brave the Cold for a Cause
More than just a test of grit, each participant rallied sponsors to boost fundraising efforts. The cash will fund essential RNLI lifesaving operations that keep the coast safe for everyone.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome of our first December Dip. It’s heartwarming to see the community come together in such a spirited way to support our lifesavers,” said a Shoreham RNLI spokesperson.
Community Champions Keep the Event Safe and Festive
- Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club and Shoreham 1 Club ensured water safety, with crew members manning the Sussex Yacht Club safety boat.
- Steve Howlett from Littlehampton Lifeboat crew pumped up the crowd with music and announcements.
- St John Ambulance team stood by for medical support.
- Bentley’s Smokehouse of Bexhill lent a tasty helping hand.
The Shoreham RNLI’s December Dip has set the bar high for future charity plunges, combining community spirit with daring courage all for a lifesaving cause.
