Plumstead Station Shut After Person Hit by Train
A south-east London train station was slammed shut this morning after a person was struck by a train. Emergency services flooded Plumstead station at around 9.30am on Sunday following the shocking incident.
Major Delays on Woolwich Line
The station closure caused chaos on Southeastern trains along the Woolwich line. Track from Charlton to Slade Green was completely blocked. Passengers travelling from Charing Cross and Cannon Street to Barnehurst were also hit by delays and cancellations.
A Southeastern spokesperson confirmed: “Due to a person being hit by a train, no services can run on the #WoolwichLine. You can use your ticket at no extra cost on local London buses and the DLR via reasonable routes. The emergency services are en route to the incident.”
East Kent Services Also Hit by Weather Woes
Meanwhile, East Kent’s rail network faced its own woes with icy conditions disrupting power supply to the third rail. Trains are currently running between Ashford and Minster via Canterbury West only.
- No trains are running via Dover Priory or Canterbury East until at least midday.
- Passengers are advised to check before travelling as disruption (#SEDisruption) continues.
British Transport Police and the London Ambulance Service have been contacted for updates.
