UK Tourists Warned: Spain Now Demands More Than Just a Passport
British holidaymakers jetting off to Spain this summer must pack more than their passports. The UK Foreign Office has flagged fresh entry rules that mean extra paperwork at Spanish border control, thanks to post-Brexit shake-ups.
What Docs Do You Need?
Travellers from the UK, no longer part of the Schengen zone, must now present additional proof when arriving in Spain. Alongside your passport, be ready to flash these two documents:
- Valid Return or Onward Ticket: You need to prove you’re not planning to overstay with a return trip or onward travel ticket in hand.
- Proof of Accommodation: Hotel bookings, a friend’s invitation, or evidence of where you’ll be staying is essential. Digital confirmations on your phone or printed receipts both count.
Money Matters: Show You Can Pay Your Way
Officials might also ask for proof you can cover your expenses during your stay. Spain requires a minimum of 113.40 euros (£97) per person per day. This can be shown with cash, credit cards, or traveller’s cheques.
Although rarely enforced, carrying evidence of sufficient funds avoids any border hassles and speeds up your trip through customs.
Double Check Your Passport & Grab a Bargain Holiday
Remember, your passport must be valid for at least three months after leaving the Schengen area and issued in the last decade. Don’t get caught out with an invalid document!
