University of Sussex Students Slam Library’s Disability Access!

Protest Erupts Over Poor Disabled Access

On Wednesday, December 5th, students at the University of Sussex took a stand outside the main library. They slammed the university for failing to provide proper disabled access and clear signage.

Long, Winding Route Sparks Outrage

The library’s front entrance requires climbing a steep flight of stairs. However, the only step-free access is a long, winding route that took our reporter a whopping 7 minutes and 7 seconds to navigate. The lack of straightforward access has angered the student body.

Students Demand Clear Signs and Equal Access

Protesters urged fellow students and staff to use the disabled access route in solidarity. One student told Sussex News:

“We are here today to protest inadequate signage around Sussex University’s Library. We want proper signs to clearly show both the shortcut and the step-free non-shortcut routes. Every student and member of the public deserves easy access to the library.”

The message is clear: Sussex University must sort out its disability access or face more protests.
