Blaze Breaks Out in London High-Rise
A major fire erupted this morning in a high-rise flat on Baffin Way, triggering a massive emergency response. London Fire Brigade (LFB), Ambulance Service, and Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) rushed to the scene as flames tore through the building.
Firefighters Battle Flames on Multiple Floors
About 55 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze, which started on the seventh floor. Thanks to their quick action, the fire was contained to just that single floor, preventing further disaster.
However, another update from the LFB revealed a second fire blazing in a flat on the 25th floor of a 45-storey building on Biscayne Avenue, Blackwall. Half of the flat and its balcony were alight, sending thick smoke across the area.
Safety Measures and Evacuations Underway
- Road closures and a large safety cordon are firmly in place around the affected zones.
- Evacuation of nearby residents was carried out as a precaution.
- Paramedics and medical teams are on site, though no confirmed reports of injuries have emerged yet.
- Locals are urged to keep windows and doors shut and avoid Biscayne Avenue.
LFB Responds to Over 100 Emergency Calls
The London Fire Brigade’s 999 control centre has handled over 100 calls concerning the blaze since it was first reported at 13:28.
Fire crews from Millwall, Plaistow, Shadwell, and nearby stations remain at the scene, working tirelessly to extinguish the fires.
Authorities still do not know the cause of the fires.
