Massive Blaze Hits London High-Rise: Dozens of Firefighters on Scene
A huge fire erupted today in a high-rise block on Baffin Way, sparking a major emergency response from the London Fire Brigade (LFB), London Ambulance Service, and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
Firefighters Battle Blaze on Seventh Floor
Around 55 firefighters rushed to the scene to tackle the inferno that broke out on the seventh floor. Thanks to their swift and heroic efforts, the fire was contained to just one floor, preventing a wider disaster.
Widespread Disruption as Safety Measures Enforced
- Road closures put in place around the area
- A large safety cordon established to keep people safe
- Several nearby residents evacuated as a precaution
Paramedics remain on site to treat any casualties, though the number and severity of injuries are yet to be confirmed.
Another Fire Hits Biscayne Avenue’s Tower Block
In a separate incident, the LFB confirmed a fierce blaze broke out in a flat on the 25th floor of a 45-storey building on Biscayne Avenue, Blackwall.
Ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters were deployed to contain the flames, which engulfed half a flat and its balcony.
The fire is sending thick smoke into the surrounding area. Locals are urged to keep windows and doors shut and avoid the vicinity if possible.
The Brigade’s control centre received more than 100 emergency calls after the fire was first reported at 13:28. Crews from Millwall, Plaistow, Shadwell, and neighbouring fire stations are actively fighting the blaze.
Cause of Both Blazes Still Unknown
Authorities have yet to determine what sparked the fires. Investigations are ongoing as emergency teams battle the situations on multiple fronts.
