Tragedy at Bicester Motion: Three Dead After Fire and Structural Collapse

Firefighters and Civilian Lose Lives in Catastrophic Incident

Thames Valley Police have confirmed post-mortems on the three victims who died after a devastating fire and structural collapse at Bicester Motion on 15 May 2025.

The deceased are identified as firefighters Martyn Sadler and Jennie Logan, along with member of the public Dave Chester.

Cause of Death Revealed: Multiple Traumatic Injuries

Preliminary post-mortem results point to multiple traumatic injuries as the cause of death, consistent with injuries sustained from the structure’s collapse during the blaze.

Two other firefighters injured in the fire remain hospitalised in stable condition.

Major Investigation Underway

Assistant Chief Constable Dennis Murray gave an update on the ongoing probe:

“Our thoughts remain with the families, friends, and colleagues of Jennie Logan, Martyn Sadler, and Dave Chester, as well as the injured firefighters and their loved ones.”

“Initial findings indicate injuries typical of a structural collapse.”

The investigation is treated as an unexplained death case. Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit leads the inquiry alongside fire officials and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Police have declined to comment further on the post-mortem findings as the probe continues into the fire’s cause and any structural failures involved.

Bicester Motion Community in Shock

Bicester Motion, a well-known motor venue on Buckingham Road, remains closed to the public amid the ongoing investigation.

A community vigil is expected to be held later this week to honour the victims.

Public Appeal for Witnesses

Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact Thames Valley Police or report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
