The Eagle has docked in Portsmouth

Discover tall ship the United States Coast Guard Barque EAGLE has docked alongside at Portsmouth Naval Base in Portsmouth. The Eagle will be in dock from Saturday 27 April until Monday 29 April. However, the ship will only be available from 12pm – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Guests will be able to see the beautiful tall ship on a Harbour Tour during the extended stay. Barque Eagle will be open on the following dates and times: • Saturday 27 April 12pm – 4pm • Sunday 28 April 12pm – 4pm Standing at a grand height on 90 metres (295 feet), US Coast Guard Tall Ship Eagle is the only active square-rigger in the United States government service and the largest of her kind. She was originally commissioned by Horst Wessel by the German navy and was a reparation for the United States following the Second World War. The tall ship is now used as a floating classroom for future coast guard officers, offering professional development qualifications as part of the Coast Guard Academy.
