Dartford Chaos: Woman on Bridge Sparks Massive Roadblocks
Police Shutdown Key Routes Near Dartford
Chaos hit Dartford last Saturday evening after police spotted a woman on a bridge near The Brent. Around 7pm, officers halted traffic in both directions close to Junction 1B on the A282 to keep everyone safe.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 6.55pm on Saturday to a report of a woman seen on a bridge near The Brent in Dartford. To ensure the safety of the woman and other road users, emergency services were called and road closures were imposed on the A282 and surrounding roads.”
Delays and Long Tailbacks
- The closures caused massive queues stretching back to the Darenth Interchange in Swanley and across the QEII Bridge.
- The A226 Brent Road was also shut between the Shell station and Brent Roundabout in both directions.
- National Highways confirmed the A282 was closed between Junction 1a and Junction 2 due to the police incident.
- Drivers faced hour-long delays clockwise from Junction 30 to 1a, and anti-clockwise from Junctions 3 to 2.
Situation Resolved, Roads Reopened
By 9:06pm, police lifted the road closures and handed the woman over to medical personnel, ending the ordeal.
Additional M25 Collision Adds to Evening Traffic Woes
