Silent Witness Welcomes Exciting New Faces to the Lyell
The hit BBC crime drama Silent Witness is back with fresh talent and gripping storylines. Two new characters are shaking things up at the Lyell, promising plenty of drama and intrigue for fans.
Meet Gabriel Folukoya: The Brainy Neurologist
Aki Omoshaybi, known for The Pursuit Of Love and Queens Of Mystery, joins the cast as Gabriel Folukoya. Gabriel is an academic, neurologist, and pathologist focused on cutting-edge data analysis rather than hands-on autopsies.
“Gabriel prefers to computer model an autopsy than to slice a body, but he knows he needs people like Nikki and Jack. He’s at a crossroads—ready to open up and be more vulnerable,”
Aki says.
Velvy Schur: The Trainee Pathologist with a Secret
Alastair Michael (Ridley Road, Snatch) stars as Velvy Schur, the new Anatomical Pathology Technologist (APT) trainee recommended by Clarissa Mullery. Velvy has just left his ultra-Orthodox Jewish community and is torn between his faith and a wide-open secular world.
“Velvy’s on a fascinating journey trying to balance career, faith, and new friendships. His curiosity might ruffle some feathers at the Lyell,” Alastair teases.
Jack’s Niece Cara Returns as a Criminology Student
Rhiannon May’s Cara Connelly moves from a one-off appearance to a regular role this series. Cara arrives to announce she’s starting a criminology degree, forcing Jack to let her stay at his place. She quickly wins him over with her smarts and ambition.
“Cara’s determined to find independence after leaving her overprotective mum in Belfast. She’s eager to spread her wings and make her own mark,” says Rhiannon.
Executive Producers Hype the New Series
BBC Studios’ Suzi McIntosh promises thrilling stories across five diverse worlds. “We have brilliant writers, directors, and actors bringing Silent Witness back with a bang,” she says. “Aki, Alastair, and Rhiannon are fantastic additions to the Lyell.”
Nawfal Faizullah, BBC Executive Producer, adds, “Silent Witness returns stronger than ever, led by Emilia and David with fresh faces joining the team. Fans are in for a gripping ride.”
Record-Breaking Success for the Anniversary Series
Silent Witness’ 25th anniversary series launched in May 2022 and quickly became one of the BBC’s top scripted shows, pulling in 8.3 million viewers within 30 days of episode one.
