Blaze Hits Croydon Shop and Flats
Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters have rushed to tackle a blaze at a three-storey building on George Street, Croydon. The ground floor shop and flats above are at the centre of the inferno.
Firefighters Battle Flames Between Floors
The fire broke out in the ducting and void space between the ground and first floors. Crews are working hard to contain the flames and stop the fire spreading further.
Major Response from Multiple Stations
The London Fire Brigade was called at 4.30pm. Firefighters from Croydon, Woodside, Norbury, West Norwood, Forest Hill, Bromley, Wallington, and Purley stations are on scene battling the blaze.
