Brazen Cash Machine Heist Sparks Road Closure in Ashby
Detectives have released eye-catching CCTV footage showing a daring burglary in Ashby where a cash machine is ripped straight from a wall. Just after 3am on Monday, July 10, thieves used a Bobcat to smash into a building society on Market Street and wrench the ATM free.
Bobcat Used as Getaway Muscle
The gang caused massive damage to the premises, scattering debris across the road and forcing a closure for hours. Police believe three vehicles were involved: a dark-coloured car, a silver pick-up, and the Bobcat telehandler.
Police Plea for Witnesses
Detective Constable 4129 Granger said: “The Bobcat was used to ram the front of the building so the suspects could remove the cash machine, causing major disruption.”
“The CCTV clearly shows the three vehicles and the crime unfolding. We need the public’s help to ID the vehicles and culprits.”
