Three Dead as Migrant Boat Sinks Off Calais Coast
Tragedy struck early this morning when a migrant boat capsized just 2km off Sangatte, near Calais. French authorities confirmed three people have died after around 50 migrants plunged into the chilly waters of the English Channel at about 8am.
High-Stakes Rescue Operation Underway
Rescue teams from both France and Britain leapt into action. So far, 48 migrants have been plucked from the sea, but one remains critically ill. A passenger ferry spotted a man overboard, pulling the unconscious victim aboard before a French Navy helicopter airlifted him to Boulogne-sur-Mer hospital. Sadly, despite desperate medical efforts, he later died.
French officials say: “Three people have lost their lives, 48 rescued, and one remains injured.”
Channel Ferry Chaos: Delays Hit Dover-Calais Route
The rescue mission has triggered chaos at Calais Port, causing Dover-Calais ferry services to grind to a halt. Passengers face waits of up to two hours as authorities manage the emergency and continue search efforts.

This grim incident highlights the deadly risks migrants take crossing the Channel in overcrowded boats. French and British officials vow to keep a tight watch and press on with search and rescue operations until every person is found.
