Tragedy struck the A13 in Rainham on February 14 at around 4:30pm. Two cars collided head-on near the Ferry Lane Interchange on the eastbound side.
- Two men, a passenger in his early 40s and a driver in his mid-40s, died instantly despite emergency efforts.
- Another driver, also in his mid-40s, was rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries.
- Two air ambulances scrambled to the scene; the road stayed shut overnight.

71-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck on M20 After Stopping on Hard Shoulder
Late on Valentine’s Day around 10:20pm, a 71-year-old man was killed on the M20 between junctions 8 and 9 coastbound.
- He’d stopped his blue Kia on the hard shoulder and was hit after exiting the vehicle by an Iveco box van.
- The man was pronounced dead at the scene; a female passenger suffered minor injuries.
- The van driver is cooperating with Kent Police as they launch a serious collision probe.
