Truck Crash Sparks Chaos on M27 Near Portsmouth
Three council workers walked away from a nasty smash on the busy M27 this morning. Their truck slammed into barriers just after 11am, near Portsmouth, triggering chaos on the motorway and forcing junction closures around Portsmouth and Fareham.
Emergency Rescue and Hospital Treatment
Firefighters from Portchester and Cosham rushed to the scene, using cutting gear to free two workers trapped in the wreckage. Paramedics treated all three at the site before rushing them to southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton General Hospital.

- One was taken in with crush injuries to the chest
Road Damage and Traffic Delays
Highways England confirmed 20 metres of motorway barriers are damaged and repairs will take time. The road surface itself also took a hit, meaning the eastbound M27 lanes won’t fully reopen for a while.
A Highways England spokesperson warned drivers to expect delays as repair crews work to clear the wreckage and fix the damage.
