Three dead and one critically injured in horror crash at Staples Corner
Fatal smash shocks London night
Three men have died and another is fighting for life after a single car crash at Staples Corner retail park. Emergency services were scrambled at 11:26pm on Sunday, 14 April following reports of a serious road traffic incident.
Five men caught up in tragedy
The vehicle carried five young men, all in their early 20s. Police and firefighters arrived to find three sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were rushed to hospital, one in critical condition, the other with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police launch urgent investigation
Inspector William McDonald, overseeing the Barnet area, said: “Emergency services responded last night to what seems to have been a terrible accident. An urgent police investigation is underway, led by the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.”
He added: “Officers are informing the families of the five young men and specialist officers will support them. I send my sincere condolences.”
Scene remains sealed, no arrests yet
Road closures remain in place around the crash site while police continue their probe. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved. Anyone who witnessed the smash but has not spoken to police is urged to call 101 quoting reference 7502/14april.
