Empty Minibus, Fatal Impact

Thankfully, there were no passengers on board at the time, but emergency services could do nothing to save the driver. He was rushed to University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem will now determine the exact cause of death.

Road Closed, Gardaí Seek Witnesses

The serious collision forced the closure of the R463 at Athlunkard Bridge to allow a full investigation and safety checks. Local diversions are in place to minimise disruption for commuters.

The Gardaí are urgently appealing for anyone who was travelling the R463 between 2:30am and 3:30am to come forward. They especially want dash-cam or CCTV footage that might shed light on what happened.

Witnesses can contact Henry Street Garda station on 061 212 400, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
