Travellers have made a bold move, shifting from the DC Leisure Centre in Forest Road to the peaceful Alver Country Park on Grange Road over the weekend. Their arrival has left families furious and demanding council action.
Up to 20 Caravans Crowd Gosport Beauty Spot
The travellers first entered Alver Country Park on Friday evening, gradually bringing up to 20 caravans onto the tranquil site. Visitors today were shocked and upset, many calling on council chiefs to force the travellers off the land immediately.
Council Declares “Unauthorised Encampment” and Launches Eviction
Gosport Council labelled the travellers’ stay as an “unauthorised encampment” and confirmed an eviction process is underway. A deadline was set for the travellers to leave — but they remain as of this morning.
Local Visitors Demand Swift Action
Families and regular visitors to the park, many with young children, expressed their anger and discomfort. Lauren Park, visiting with her two kids, slammed the travellers’ presence: “It’s disgusting, they know full well they shouldn’t be here.”
Dog walker Claire Drake called the situation “quite intimidating,” adding, “They don’t seem to care about being here.”
