Massive M3 Crash: Tree Crushes Car, Three Lanes Shut
Long delays are snarling the M3 northbound just after junction 13 after a huge tree smashed onto a car, flipping it onto its roof. Emergency services rushed to the scene where a single vehicle, believed to be a Renault Clio, was involved in the dramatic crash.
Shocking Scene: Tree Collapses, Car Overturned
Witnesses looked on in horror as the large tree came crashing down. The clio hit the tree and flipped over in a split second. All three lanes of the motorway were shut while traffic is being diverted far away from the wreck.
Emergency Response: Police, Rescue Teams, and Helicopter Deployed
Hampshire Constabulary Roads Policing, Hampshire 1 and rescue crews, plus the NPAS helicopter, are all at the scene. Officers are currently making the area safe.
It’s unclear if anyone was trapped inside, but a passing motorist spotted a driver peering into the overturned car. Two lanes remain blocked as crews carry out their work.
UPDATE: No One Trapped, Rescue Teams Working Hard
At 4:10pm, Eastleigh and St Mary’s crews confirmed no one is trapped following the crash. They are now focused on ensuring scene safety.
Highways England said: “Lane 1 (of 3) remains closed due to a collision where a vehicle is on its roof. Emergency services are still on scene dealing with the incident.“
