Emergency teams scrambled to East Cowes tonight after a luxury Trimaran sailing vessel was blown off the dock and ended up upside down in the water near the Red Funnel ferry terminal.

A sudden gust during a thunderstorm sweeping the Isle of Wight earlier this evening is believed to have caused the Trimaran to capsize. The vessel was moored at Venture Quays when the gust struck, sending it careering into the water.
Rescue Efforts Underway as Storm Hits
Cowes RNLI Lifeboat, Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team, and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team rushed to the scene. Coastguard officers and volunteer RNLI crew remain on site, managing the incident as it unfolds.
