Two Family Members Test Positive for Coronavirus in England
England’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty, has confirmed two family members in the UK have tested positive for coronavirus. Both patients are receiving specialist NHS care at a hospital in Newcastle.
NHS on High Alert to Stop Virus Spread
Professor Whitty said, “We can confirm that two patients in England, who are members of the same family, have tested positive for Coronavirus. They are under specialist NHS care, and we are using tried and tested infection control procedures to prevent further spread of the virus.”
A Department of Health spokesperson added: “The NHS is extremely well-prepared and experienced in managing infections. We are quickly identifying anyone who may have come into contact with the patients to stop the virus spreading further.”
