Helicopter Crash in Killucan Leaves Multiple Injured
Emergency teams are scrambling to the scene of a helicopter crash in Killucan, County Westmeath. Several people are reported injured after the aircraft slammed into a building.
Major Emergency Response Underway
Pat Hunt, Acting Chief Fire Officer with Westmeath Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed there are multiple casualties. “All available resources are being sent to the scene,” he said.
The crash occurred in the Joristown Upper townland at around 3:30 pm when a single-engine, four-seater helicopter struck a farm building.
“All the principal response agencies—An Garda Síochána, ambulance crews, and ourselves—are mobilising urgently,” Hunt added.
Access Challenges Hamper Rescue Efforts
Due to the crash’s nature and location, emergency crews are facing difficulties reaching the injured. The exact number of casualties remains unclear at this stage.
“We understand there are several casualties involved, but we cannot confirm numbers yet,” Hunt emphasised.
