Gravesend Cops Crack Down on Reckless Off-Road Biking
Police in Gravesend have seized two off-road bikes after several reports of dangerous riding put the public at risk. The crackdown follows two separate incidents that sparked fear among locals.
Riders Caught Racing Dangerously Through Town
On August 4, officers on foot patrol spotted a reckless off-road bike near Ordnance Road at around 2:45pm. Witnesses said the rider sped through a nearby park, endangering pedestrians. Police quickly tracked down the bike, seized it, and detained the rider.
Earlier, on July 30 at 10:29am, Kent Police got reports of another off-road bike tearing through Gravesend town centre. The rider reportedly weaved dangerously along pedestrian routes on New Road and Stone Street, narrowly missing passers-by.
Teens in Trouble as Police Close in
Using CCTV and eyewitness accounts, officers located and confiscated the abandoned bike in Lawrence Square, Northfleet. A 14-year-old from Northfleet and an 18-year-old from Gravesend were both reported for traffic offences and remain under investigation.
“The reckless use of off-road bikes poses a significant risk to public safety. We are committed to taking swift action against those who endanger others through irresponsible driving,” said a Kent Police spokesperson.
Community Relief as Cops Take Action
Locals have welcomed the police response, relieved to see tough measures against dangerous biking. Both seized bikes remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Residents are urged to report any further dangerous driving to keep Gravesend safe and sound.
