Dramatic RNLI Rescue Launch Near Varne Lightvessel

The RNLI Dover lifeboat was launched just after 5.30am on Thursday following urgent calls to the UK Coastguard. A grey dinghy was spotted in distress near the Varne Lightvessel, sparking a high-stakes rescue mission.

23 People Stranded in Rough Seas

Eyewitnesses say the tiny 6-foot grey RIB held 23 people battling huge swells and ferocious sea conditions. The situation turned dire when reports came through that a man onboard required immediate medical help.

Helicopter Called in for Life-Saving Evacuation

Rescue 163 helicopter from Lydd was scrambled to assist with the critical patient. The man, believed to be fitting and unconscious, is set for a winch evacuation to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford. Meanwhile, the RNLI and Coastguard crews continue the painstaking recovery of everyone on board.
