Covid Alert After Health Worker Tests Positive at Major Hospital
A healthcare worker who worked just one night shift in the surgical high dependency unit on Friday, 6 March has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). They are now self-isolating at home.
Close Contacts Isolated, Unit Closed to New Patients
Only a small number of patients and staff who were in close contact with the infected worker have been informed and are isolating. Meanwhile, the surgical high dependency unit is temporarily shut to new admissions as a precaution.
Other Services Running as Normal
The Trust reassures the public that all other hospital services are operating normally. Any patients impacted by the unit’s closure will be contacted directly.

“After reviewing the advice, if someone meets the criteria they should visit the NHS 111 online service or call 111,” the Trust said.
